How many children will The Crescent Primary School admit each year?

The published admission number (PAN) for The Crescent Primary School is 60 pupils.

How many children in each class and how many adults will be in the classroom with them?

There is space for 30 children in every infant class. The Government have specified 30 as the maximum infant class size. Each class will have a full time teacher and at least one full time teaching assistant.

When can my reception child start school full time?

All children will be in school full time after they have completed a settling in programme where they attend school for half a day for 1-2 weeks. We consider it vitally important that starting school is a positive and happy experience. Every child is different and responds in their own way to a full day at school. However much time they may have spent at nursery being at school is very different and settling in will not go smoothly if they are over-tired and emotional. Where this is the case then we will ask you to temporarily reduce their time in school to ensure their long term happiness and ability to learn.

What is the admissions criteria?

How do I appeal if I am not offered a place?

The law states that infant classes must be limited to a maximum of 30 children which has an impact on how an appeal is considered.

There are only certain circumstances under which an appeal panel can uphold a Key Stage 1 appeal and if an appeal does not satisfy any of these conditions then it cannot be upheld in favour of the parent/carer.

The panel may only uphold the appeal at the first stage where: a) it finds that the admission of additional children would not breach the infant class size limit

or

b) it finds that the admission arrangements did not comply with admissions law or were not correctly and impartially applied and the child would have been offered a place if the arrangements had complied or had been correctly and impartially applied

or

c) it decides that the decision to refuse admission was not one which a reasonable admission authority would have made in the circumstances of the case.

The Crescent is next door to The BRIT School will children with evidence creative talent i.e. music, art, dance or drama be prioritised for admission?

Will it help them to get in if they have been to Selhurst Children’s Centre?

If they attend The Crescent Primary will they be guaranteed a place at The BRIT School when they are 14 years old?
